. Always click signs if you get lost, they point you in the right direction. Use the World Map provided on either the Runescape website or this website.






2. Always try to talk to people. They can be very valuable in giving you clues on quests.





3. Just like in real life, there are scammers in Runescape. If you are not careful, they may take advantage of you. See the Common Scams page for more information.





4. Chickens! Chickens raise your skills quite a bit. Chickens are better than killing goblins. They die easily and provide you with bones, meat, and feathers.

You can bury the bones to increase your Prayer skill. Just killing the chicken increases your combat skills. Then, when you cut down a tree your level increases; when you light a fire, your level increases. Finally, when you cook the meat on the fire, your cooking level increases too! Chickens also provide feathers that can be used for fishing.





5. How do they write in colorful text?
You just type: @ran@ and then your message to get flashing text. There are more commands for different colors:
@red@ , @dre@, @yel@, @cya@, @blu@, @ora@, @or1@, @or2@, @or3@, @gre@, @gr1@, @gre2@, @gr3@, @bla@, @whi@, @mag@.
Try not to use colorful text often. You may use it when selling something in a market place or when trying to get attention.

6. Try to store all your money and valuables safely in the bank. If your player dies, then you would still have the money and items you stored in the bank before your player died.






7. Explore the Runescape world as much as you can. You can use the map provided on this website or the map on the main Runescape Website.




8. Complete all the quests. You not only get rewards for completing each quest, you also get better at playing Runescape. After you are done all of the quests, you can enter the Champion's Guild.




9. Visit the message-boards on the main Runescape website once in a while to see what everyone is talking about. You can share your own views and opinions with others there as well.

10. If you have a slow connection, press F1 while playing Runescape to increase game speed.




11. Try to store most of your belongings in the bank before you go mining. Most wise players take only their pick-axe and hammer. If you are going into a dangerous mine, like the Scorpion Pit, then you can also take along your body armor and a weapon.




12. It is a good idea to travel in groups when entering the Wilderness. Your friends will not only help you when you are attacked but also scare others so they won't attack in the first place. You are more likely to be attacked by other players when you are alone.




13. Most quests increase your skills when you finish them successfully. Skills are harder to increase when they are higher. Therefore, it is better not to do any quests until your skills are very high.




14. How do you get all those pictures from the game?

It's not hard at all. While playing, just press the Screen Capture Key (also known as Print Screen or SysRq) on your keyboard.

This takes a snapshot of the entire screen and saves it to the clipboard.

Now you can open your favorite image editing application (ex: Microsoft Paint) and then press Ctrl+V to paste the screen-capture you took.

From here, you can edit it (ex: crop it to size) and then save it.
