Here is a list of Runescape terminology, jargon, and gobbledygook.

Andrew Gower - Lead Programmer of Runescape. The rest of the Jagex team: Paul Gower, Ian Gower, Gill Gower, Rob Law, and John Spain.


Black hole - A prison for Runescape Players who don't follow the rules. To see what the Black Hole looks like from inside, go to the very west part of Dwarven Mine. Don't forget to buy a return-disc before you climb down the ladder.

Clan - A group of players working together. Usually helping each other in the game. You can either join a clan or form a clan yourself. There are different requirements and rewards for joining each clan. You don't have to be in a clan to play Runescape.


GTG - Got to go.


GP - Gold Pieces. The currency used in Runescape.


Level - Skills. Levels indicate how good you are at a certain thing. For example, if you have a higher mining level, then you will be able to mine better ores. If you have a higher cooking level, your cakes won't burn that frequently.
2. Level is also know for your Combat Level. Combat level is used in Wilderness to identify the chance of killing someone. Another player with a lower level than you has a better chance of dieing when in combat against you.



LOL - Lots of Laugher.
Laughing is also signaled by:

LMAO : Laughing My <beep> Off.

RAOFLMAO : Rolling Around On Floor Laughing My <beep> Off.



Moderator -acronym 'mod'. A person who breaks arguments and answers questions on message boards. A moderator also handles player's problems. In other words, a moderator is a Runescape administrator.
There are several moderators in Runescape. These are the ones that are well-known: Moderator, Manager, Paq...

Their names appear in bold on message board posts on the main Runescape website.



Newbie - Beginner. Usually with very basic or no Runescape playing skills.


NP - No Problem.


PK - Player Killing. Also know as, PKing. To go and kill players.


PM or IM - Private Message. You can use this in Runescape as you would MSN or AOL Messengers. To can add, remove, block, or send messages to your friends from the Friends box on the Runescape Game Toolbar. Your friends could be playing even on another server but you can still PM them.
To send a PM to another player, you would type:

tell (your friend's name) (your message)

Example:

tell Andrew Hi there Andrew!

If the person you wish to PM has a space in his/her name, for example: 'Andrew Gower', you would use an underscore'_' instead of the space.

For example:

tell Andrew_Gower Hi Andrew Gower!



Quests - A mission you do in Runescape. To start a quest you will have to talk to a specific person. ex: Talk to the cook in Lumbridge Castle to get started on the Cook's Helper Quest.



Saradomin - The main religion in Runescape.

Wilderness - The northern part of the Runescape world that is full of monsters to kill and treasures to find. To read more about the Wilderness, see the Guides section.


XP - Experience Points. This shows the exact number of experience points you have in a skill and how much you need to advance into the next level.
For example: My current mining XP is: 200,000; I will advance to the next level when my XP reaches: 350,000.
